GLSEN NJ Youth Advisory Council

The GLSEN NJ Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group comprised of young people, between the ages of 13-19, from across the state.

Identifying as either a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally, these young leaders have worked to create this year's GSA Forum. From researching LGBTQ+ friendly resources to suggesting & contacting speakers to creating a social media platform to building the website you are currently viewing, the YAC has worked tirelessly to create an exciting, entertaining and educational event!

Claire Munley is a high school senior and drama major through Red Bank Regional's Visual and Performing Arts Academy.  Claire has always used her art not only as a form of storytelling but to make audiences think wide open. Since freshman year, she's been performing, writing, and assistant directing several projects that focus on the many topics of social justice. Claire is thankful to be apart of the GLSEN Central Jersey Youth Advisory Council and one of the adaptors of the Virtual NJ GSA Forum 2020! She's grateful for this amazing opportunity that helped cured her COVID-boredom.  Break legs to all the amazing presenters!

Fiona is passionate about serving her community as a peer leader, EMS Cadet, political activist, and local volunteer. She is also an avid rock climber and long time practitioner of Aikido, a martial art centered around non violence and defense. She is excited to be on the GLSEN NJ YAC and grateful to be working with other young, dedicated individuals.

Tarun is in 9th grade. He is an avid mountain biker and social justice advocate. For many years Tarun has worked to improve conditions for LGBTQ individuals in his school district. He has even received a letter from the governor praising his work! Tarun is excited to continue working for LGBTQ rights and other social justice issues!
